Manly is where my food journey continues and it is a little 20 odd seater bar and restaurant called Chica Bonita. Tucked in and away off the Manly Corso, Chica Bonita serves up Mexican food which in its short 3 weeks of opening has had a lot of positive feedback and over 6 food reviews and blogs, not including this one.

The decor and even location makes you feel like anywhere but Manly, with an authentic Mexican feel throughout the restaurant, it is a great escape for the few hours you come to stuff your face with all things Mexican. Now, I could go on and tell you about the guacamole dip that needed a tad bit more salt and lime juice or the pulled pork taco that was a little too wet that it tore the taco shell… BUT, in their short menu there are 2 dishes that stand out. One being the ling (white fish) Ceviche which had great balance and texture. The other… which I would drive or take a ferry to come back especially for is the Chicharron Sopa… By far the best crispy pork belly taco or best taco in Manly or the city.

I’ve come in to give support at criticism (hehe…) to the guy behind the food; Alex Wong, who I’ve worked with a few years back and might I say he’s done an amazing job. Chica Bonita is now on my regular spots even if it’s only for the one dish, but hey that’s how I roll, anywhere, anytime for good food! Next time I’ll be trying their Margaritas! So check out their Facebook page or say Hola to the guys at 7 The Corso, Manly and bring out the inner Mexican in you! (SY)
